About 10 years ago I was driving around the street throw outs filling every inch of my car with goodies when I spotted a Kriesler Radiogram , well the heart rate shot up and I headed straight for it,, unfortunately somebody had taken to the chassis with a hammer or something so I left it there to be land fill, It was the first time in my life I had ever see a Kriesler 11 77 stereophonic in the flesh.

Ever since then I have wanted one ,but they were often in Perth or out in the sticks in some town in the middle of no where and it was too long of a trip for my $ 1500 wagon pushing my luck.

Well a couple of months ago ,I thought lifes to short and times getting away , its time to do some of those simple things ive wanted to do,,
So I went hells bells to find one , I put ads up on gumtree ads on sites, scanned the for sales ever day . I was after a particular model and colour . I wanted a light colour no rosewoods .
Well one came up only 30 minutes drive away , It belong to an elderly lady who was living in a 1950s house in St. Ives and they were doing the big down size and selling everthing off.

There in the garage was my Kriesler Stereophonic 1960 model I had always wanted, She said she had bought it new and its been in the garage for about 40 years.

So here it is , I didnt plug it in ,I will just recap it first and then continue restoring it.

Im really glad I made it happen and didn"t wait any longer for my Kriesler 11 77

All the best ,pete

Well done, but for some reason that Photbucket links are not working for me -- all I get is a spinning wheel icon.

I tried but it made no difference. I can see the gallery shots at the bottom of the page, but the linked photos won't load for me for some reason.

Let's see how it goes for other members.

Hi Pete,
There is one of these on Gumtree in Hobart at present.
Maybe you need some spares.

Images are loading for me though I have changed to code to allow an 800 pixel width, otherwise it throws the site's template out of whack.

G day everyone and thank you all for your comments its always great to show our projects here.

I was very lucky to find this one ,because its all there ,the knobs, the badges, and those hard to get Rola 2ohm speakers are like new. I can se that the speaker amp was change in 1965 and I hope its the right one in there.

The Turntable is a Garrard RC 121 two Heads and although its filthy dirty when I look at the Platter where the idler wheel runs it appears as new and I dont think its played anymore then 50 Records.
The Cabinet needs some work , but all in all I'm over the moon about my find.
I read somewhere that this model Kriesler was Australia's first Stereo ?
I dont know if thats correct or not?

They started building these in 1958 in Newtown Sydney.
Im very happy with it and you find one of these at the Mall !

Plus
. JJ Thanks I will have a look on gumtree for some fun.
I dont know if I ever told you jj,, I once tried living in tassie,I had 1000 acres and on it I had 4 chooks and 1 old dog.

. Brad,
No dramas I will set the size of them from now on as photobucket does not do it, I'm on Tablet at the moment because pc is down and Tablets are a nightmare to work with,, but ill sort it ,,,,
All the best ,,pete

Okay, I can load those pics with Chrome. They won't load with Firefox possibly because of ad blocker. Under chrome I note that Photobucket links to a range of advertising sites before it finally displays the image.

as photobucket does not do it

This is a common occurrence with many image hosting sites - don't worry about it too much. The modification to the HTML is where width="800" is added to each image link. The trick is that it has to go in the right place or it'll stuff the link. If you aren't too confident with HTML code just leave it to me. I don't mind making these minor changes.

because of ad blocker

Ad blockers, Ive always had trouble with them and these days I use a modified Hosts file which overrides my ISP's DNS server. All of Google's (including Doubleclick and Youtube), Microsoft's and Yahoo's ad servers are permanently blocked and it doesn't slow down the loading of web pages.

I've forgotten where I got my Hosts file though it is easy enough to search for a copy of one with the latest IP addresses and host names. These are text files but only work on Windows computer.

I use a modified Hosts file

Great tip, thanks. I've added the one on the site below which appears to be kept reasonably up to date -- just a matter of remembering to refresh your hosts file on a regular basis:

https://pgl.yoyo.org/as/

Doing this allows me to know load up those PB links in Firefox immediately. Smile

That's a very nice looking and well looked after unit, Pete. I also prefer the light finish to rosewood.

The twin cone speakers ought to sound good, too, and I see it has provision for extension speakers.

BTW: I've emailed you the 11-77 schematic and notes in case you don't already have them.
