I have 2 valve amp modules complete with power and output transformers that I found at my local tip, I like most people here just love old technology and couldn't bear the thought of them being used as landfill, however the valves are missing on both of them but I have been able to identify them, they are part of a PYE Pedigree T23 hybrid television about 1968 vintage so if anyone here can help me I will be able to put these amps to good use instead of salvaging them for parts

Thanks SimonB

PS - I can supply photo's if that helps.

PYE T23, T23C and T23D all show 6GV8 as the audio output valve.
Most other brands used this valve as a vertical output.

Here are some service details for the T23 chassis.

It shows voltages, speaker impedance and resistance in ohms of the output transformer windings.

Thank-you Johnny and MonochromeTV for your posts, the PDF of this circuit is of great help as the value of C5 on both the amp modules is not marked, I have some 6GV8's so I will start tinkering and see if I can get them to work so watch this space and I will let you know if I am successful.

Thanks SimonB

Both Pye and Kriesler used the 6GV8 in an audio capacity. Kriesler in a mantle radio, to use up out-of-spec valves from TV production!

Pye's reason was different. Rationalisation of inventory cuts costs, both manufacturing and service.

The T23 was a very advanced design for its time, the all solid state T26 which followed it even more so.

The 6GV8 is very similar in appearance to the 6GW8 but has a different pinout and quite different characteristics - it biasses differently. It also lacks the 6GW8's internal screen between the triode and the pentode.
