Wow look what I picked up from a good mate last week. Its not valve technology but its top shelf. Will send pictures asap. This baby has ten shortwave bands, longwave , FM and MW. Grand total 75 bucks I am smiling.

I am somewhat a Grundig fan and have a 6001 Sattelit which is in perfect working condition. My Dad brought it over from Germany in the late 1960's, probably about 1967.

Have all the paperwork that came with it along with the SSB plug in module.

Typical Grundig with a turret band change. A wooden bodied case with vinyl ? covering. Very handsome.

Even now I listen fairly regulary to shortwave stations and never cease to be amazed how sensitive the Grundig is particulary when hooked up to a wire aerial.

If the 6001 cannot hear it it's likely nothing else will.

Impressive bit of kit!
Funny how the challenge of DX-ing still exists even though the internet has made it a bit redundant.
I guess the word here is "challenge".

I, too have a Grundig, but a much older 4570 AM FM valve-based model.

I got it a while ago and haven't yet "assessed" it in regards to condition, resorability etc. Preliminary inspection reveals no missing valves, no obvious damage to it's internals .

I actually find internet radio pretty boring as its no longer a challenge as you put it. Nothing will replace the magic of radio to me. What never ceases to amaze me is just how usable the old radios are even now because they are still compatible with new technology.
