Okay chaps, we are skating on thin ice here. Comments have been edited so no-one gets sued. Best to keep this one private.

There's some real bargains on Ebay, especially with radio's. There is also an "art" to bidding, which doesn't guarantee you will win the item, but does guarantee you will never pay more than you would be prepared to pay. If another bidder set's their maximum under yours, you will pay that price, I shall say no more Smile
My wife looks at me with puzzled amusement, asking, where are we going to put this one!
As I return her look.
TV's I remember everybody used to throw out when they went crook. I used to strip valves and "Big" electrolytic caps out of them, which I'd solder wires to and charge from the 240v mains, plug in the wires, flick the switch and after the big whine, switch off and very carefully remove the wires and proceed to hunt insects to blast.
Lot's of people kept old sets and stuff stowed in sheds for a year ends up either forgotten or bequeathed to somebody who ends up with something they do not care for something much, but have a sentimental attachment enough to want it to go to a good home.
These kinds of sellers are the most rewarding for buyers with such a good home...
Hmmmn Arsonists are even beyond stupid, prison radio wouldn't be too flash at it's best
An electric fence would be a great deterrent/ shield for those kind of characters and / or, motion activated camera's.

Not to worry. These things happen sometimes but they are rare occurrences on these forums and hands did get smacked for it.

If you or anyone are interested in some tellies then make your way to Mitchell Road Antiques on Bourke Road, Alexandria. Photo of their stock is below. I didn't think to look at the prices though I doubt any would come near the thousand mark. They are on special this weekend.

Nice, if you're a TV collector (not me).

Our family had a Pye TV set, just like the 2 on the left. The case sits on a black stand.

One day I'd like to have two or three tellies, just to count myself amongst the collectors of them but for now there's no room. One I'd like to have is one of the earlier AWA sets with the 10-channel tuner.

I had forgotten how charming those old sets are, I just love the old ones on legs with the rounded corners of the screen.
I remember when colour sets first came out back in 74 and couldn't understand what the fuss was about as until I was told the old ones were black and white, I thought they already were colour... Ah the imagination of childhood!!!

As a kid I used to ponder on the idea that before 1974 no-one could see in colour. At the same time I remember very little of my pre-1974 life though I most likely could see in colour.

Room is always a problem, I have lots of TVs, 10 or so, but I only have a couple of radios, I have only 50s stuff in the house, one exception is a 1962 Blaupunkt radiogram with FM on it, I like it. But TVs are my thing.

Re loaning/renting out ones collectables, this site has somewhere a description of renting out some TVs from his collection. He will never do it again.
