 AWA vintage cream coloured identification required

Hi I picked this up on the weekend (pics coming)

It's round, creme in colour has AWA on the centre, has a power cord and a mono speaker cord as well, opening it up, all I can see is a power supply and some capacitors and it also looks to be wall mounted.

Going by what I can see on the back, it's an X volt, 10 mA DC power supply, where the value of X is being covered up in the photo by the low voltage plug.

Presumably on the other side of that power transformer is a diode or a selenium rectifier.

Very odd shape and quite low output current. I have no idea what it was designed to be mated with.

It is a external 9 volt power supply, called a Battery Saver, to suit a AWA B29 (and possibly others) transistor radio.

Well spotted. There's an article on the B29 and battery eliminator in Silicon Chip May 2005.

.Silvermeddle: I don't think there'd be too many survivors like that. AWA transistor set collectors may be interested in it.
