With that sort of original peep hole dial, I would be confident that the second one would line up with the original drive shaft position on a chassis like, but not exclusive too, an EMMCO Troubador.

As above with valve line up & any ARTS&P label and its colour. Photograph the inside of the pan before you touch anything. One photo may not cover everything in it.

I constructed a long wire aerial 70 ft long, now the volume works better and the sound is a lot more stable.

On many sets of that era where there was not a valve like 6B* that had diodes in it, there was no AGC / AVC. What they had was a switch on the back marked "Local / DX" on a weak station on 'Local" you won't get a lot of volume.
