Need advice on dating coffin radio. valves 87 and 86 I think, 3 valves and rectifier. probably kit form originally, can't find manufacturers name. can post pic if this is permissable. I wish to sell this item and would like to know as much as possible. Not sure if this is the right forum but looked like a good place to start. Any info would be appreciated.

G'day Terry,

Feel free to post the HTML link to the picture if you have it hosted somewhere. Alternatively you may email it to chatbot.bigpond.com and I will place it here for you.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

PS: Most of the coffin style sets were made before 1930 and if yours has four valves then it may well be either a kit set or a very early manufactured one. Alot of kits were made because ready-made sets were extremely expensive.

Yeah, I have this Kellogg model 507, 6 tube battery radio
and I read somewhere that it sold for US $400 in 1926.
But guess how much I bought it for in 2009? AUD $400.
Including all tubes, in great condition-
and I thought that there was something called inflation around!
