RCS would have made a few million PBCs in their time. They used to make PCBs for the four electronics magazines we had/have; Electronics Australia, Electronics Today International, Silicon Chip and Australian Electronics Monthly. Additionally, many orders for companies that assembled their own products.

RCS' most famous feat (in vintage radio circles) was their manufacture of various chassis-mounted parts for valve radios, including coil cans and tuning dials. Many of these parts went into probably the most famous kit radio of all time - the Little General.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

AWA had a two-way radio service depot at 67 Lords Rd Leichardt. I visited this many times when working for Telecom re the 700 series radios used on the Moomba Sydney Gas Pipeline. UHF for data links and VHF for mobiles.

I worked at AWA's Engineering Products factory at 422 Lane Cove Rd North Ryde. In the early 70s I worked on PRCF1 HF radios for Defence and terminals for the first computer system for the NSW TAB. Other products I know of included traffic light controllers, telecoms test gear and air navigation gear.

Graham,

Are you a member of the AWA Veterans Association?

The DVD set they produced for the AWA Centenary is fascinating, and features a number of photos of the North Ryde site. Not sure if they have any stock left, but might be worth a try.

GTC, no. I read of the 100 years celebration and emailed a couple of memories to the contact person.

I didn't know there was any thing to join. I did some research and found they meet in Sydney, unsurprisingly, as that's where the factories and offices were. I'm unlikely to ever be there.
