Won't miss the traffic or the cost (of Sydney)

It's strange how young people get hooked on the adrenaline of mega-cities, like my niece who moved to Sydney.

I am not sure if Sydney falls into the megacity category. At the time of federation, Sydney and Melbourne were amongst the top large cities in the world because Australia is highly urbanised though this has changed since then and they are middle of the road as far as population goes. Sydney is still huge as far as land area goes, at more than 12,000km2 You could fit Singapore and Hong Kong in numerous times.

I was born here and spend several years living in the bush before coming back for one reason only - the type of work I do pays more if I am here and this does outweigh the extra cost of living here. When it comes time to retire (and I am not in a hurry to do that) I will probably bail but that decision is a long way off yet.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

I can identify with this. Three groups of cousins had their teaching careers in Melbourne. Now they have retired to Beechworth & are still close to parents but well out of the rat race. Albeit the place is continuously infested with rubbernecks that's not stressful.

So, the 918 frequency is now occupied by 4VL Charleville QLD, and they play music. It's received on good strength here, 7-8, with no interference. Worth a listen.
