Hi Guys,

I goes! Just need to get the tuning dial cord sorted and job done. It's rough but working. Cabinet looks good on the outside. Picks up the usual Sydney stations well. Needs a little wire arial to make it a bit louder. Plenty of volume. Thanks for your help all who posted.

Steve

As said, sometimes you can get away with out a circuit and just replace the crap & faulty components. So you have had a good win.

One thing which appears that you may have got away with, to a point, is alignment.

Changing components in the RF and fiddlers when it breaks down; Often throw the RF section way off. In particular the IF's tend to be a target (accessible screws).

The worst I have seen in ages is the Airzone (chassis 504) on the bench, not powered before repair: Bits missing.

It fired up as deaf as a post. The two IF's were out by miles both primaries and secondaries. After some adjustments, it was dragging in 2CH Ok(night) (500+ Km)

Hi Marc,

Yes I still need to do the alignment, just need to further check all the resistors. There is a little coil or trim pot on one of the larger coils that makes it crackle when tapped. So you suggest to do the IF first? I've not done alignment before.
