As you age many of the sins of the past done to your body catch up with you. Despite this I still climb ladders to attack the trees & pick fruit that the cockies haven't managed to get at, plus cleanout the roof guttering. Years of farm work & other work see a few missing disks plus the usual interesting motorcycle events, these have not slowed me to much.

No grandchildren, nor ever going to be, to cause that sort of embarrassment.

The odd thing about my question was that I was born prior to the days of colour. I guess kids aren't that good at remembering the first few years of life.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all.

Don't forget RadioFest is this year - it's been four long years, almost...

Happy New Year. I'm still in 2022 here, though I know Australia is already in 2023.

From my vantage point on the hillside I was able to see the fireworks from Olympic Park to all points west and north, in many places all at once. The Sydney fireworks were hidden by trees, but the occasional big one could be seen. The reflections of the explosions were noticeable on the cloud cover.

And even though I'm largely deaf, the booms were still clearly audible. It must have been loud for those closer with normal ears.

And all this while it was slightly raining.

I am wondering how that will go in future years. When the Olympic Park precinct was completed in 1998 there were pretty much only the sporting facilities, the RAS Showground, the Games accomodation and a railway station. Fast forward 24 years and the place is starting to be surrounded by tall buildings. I've no issue with that as we have to squeeze housing into all available areas but the days of looking at the Olympic Stadium itself from various vantage points are just about over, including from Victoria Road at Ryde, which was once a good viewing point. One day in the near future, buildings will overshadow most of the original facilities and I am not sure if this will also block the fireworks or not.
