Jimb

The Hilman were good cars!!
Originally I was mechanic and I worked for this engineering place that built sports cars and club cars ,they specialise in the restoring of English cars and building cars here in Oz so those old cars I still like.
I like the minx wagon ! I would love a green one! I also would like a 1962 cresta haha , did you know they won bathurst in 1960 I think? I think it was 1960.
I will see what I have on Hilman stuff in the way of books and magazines.
The only Mercedes I really liked was the 62 ,63 finnie !

I also have the Imp 1964.
My email address is open and if you send me your address I'll post them to you on Thursday so you have something to read instead of staring at the ceiling catching flying in you mouth!
No charge mate , my car days are over unfortunately

That one is the Auto ,, bit of a slug.. the cresta was a favourite in the UK with mods and rockers of the 6os .....

So you are saying the manual was better than Auto

The manual was fine, but you can convert it to manual easy enough.
I can't remember if they had a hydraulic clutch or not now , but it's no drama
They get rust everywhere ! Haha but having said that it depends on where its been living , here at Dee Why where I live things rust inside the house!!!!!
But if the car is from out west it will be dry and only a little rust .
All old Cars have rust to some degree.
In the old days people repaired the panel with a oxy welder and this made it worse because the whole panel would have to heat up causing distortion to the panel. Then the mig welder came along and it was great for restoring cars with no distortion.
Sounds like your thinking of buying it Steve? Where is it I might come with you and have look with you.

Pete

Nice looking cresta.
Not sure about left hand sill and bottom panels it is probably just a digital camera photography picture thing.
