Has your NBN connection issue been resolved yet?

Has your NBN connection issue been resolved yet?

Nope. There's been no progress since March 2017. So, I continue to use ADSL

Anyway Brad, the forum seems to be stable now, whatever you did.
Thank you!

Thanks Brad for all your hard work keeping such a great site running.
I'll stick to using ADSL as long as I can, works well so why change?

Thankyou for all the kind words everyone.

I've managed to restore part of the e-mail service tonight. When I say "part", I mean I can now send mail but not yet receive it, which is a pain but I will refer the matter to the webhost for a solution.

Because sending is possible, the password retrieval service is now back up and running. Anyone trying to forward pictures will unfortunately get a rejection message from the mail server, for now.

Happy to report that I have not had a single error 500 nor timeout since the move. I think your suspicion that your TPG connection was the culprit may be on the money.

I'm in the same boat. No 500s since we came back, either at home or at work. There's been a few 404s, which indicate broken links or missing files but I try to sort these out as they are found so they don't get forgotten.

There's been a few changes that I have had to get accustomed to since the move. When I took the site off commercial hosting back around 2006 I simply copied the server settings from the previous webhost on my own server, including file paths, etc. This scenario was carried over right up until a few weeks ago. The benefit was that I'd never forget anything and this is important because I've never been much good with documenting things. New ball game now but with everything outsourced again, I suppose there is not as much that needs to be remembered.

The servers here at home are still running as I still need to do a ghost image of both before shutting them down, packing them up and storing them. That won't be done until everything is back to normal here though.

I trust that you new host has a good backup regime in place. (Mind you, the integrity of any backup system is never known until a restore is performed. Ask me how I know )-: )

They claim they do but mine will also get performed. When it comes to that sort of thing I usually only trust myself.

The good news tonight is that e-mail is now working in both directions.

The following programme will apply for the rest of this week:-

1. Another overall inspection to make sure nothing has been missed.
2. Upload of all photos (a few batches were received) that came before the site went offline.
3. Upload of any photos received this week.
4. Next week, a return to normal operations.
5. Hopefully, a Merry Christmas for us all.

Hi Brad
I'm not getting any errors and found the speed of the site has improved markedly.
Thanks again for everything

Thanks for fixing the search feature Brad. Very useful for jogging the memory as required.

I also have found the site now to be stable, and faster: running with W10, Firefox on a HP laptop.

Thanks again for all your efforts over the years on what is one of the major resources in Australia for the vintage radio & TV community.

Brad,

I concur entirely with STC830's comments. VR is loading very fast for me here in WA running an OLD version of Firefox on an iMac.

BEST I has ever seen it GO !!

So again THANK YOU for your efforts...must have given you some serious grey hairs I reckon.

Lindsay
