I suspect that if you were having something delivered to a work address, there would be no problem.
Is it only the people having deliveries made to residential addresses that are having problems with couriers doing a drive by card drop?

I sympathise with home drop couriers.

I spent 10 years as a field service TV technician for a large TV service company.

Dispatch had a strict policy of not phoning the customer if there was no answer at the door, instead we had to "go around the back". Doing so was sometimes fraught with danger, including once being charged by a large ram and on anothe occasion attacked by a very territorial pet magpie.

On one memorable occasion I came across the (quite attractive) female resident sunbaking naked by the pool.
Being a gentleman and wishing to save her embarrassment, I went back to the car unseen and asked Dispatch on the radio to discreetly phone the client.

The girl on the radio was a stickler for the rules and questioned me as to whether I had gone around the back. Having explained that I had, she insisted on knowing, despite my protests, why she should make the call.

The explanation caused an eruption of comments on the radio network as you might imagine!
