.GTC,

This case made national headlines. A young Queenslander visiting Melbourne was killed & his mate seriously injured after being hit by a speeding car driven by a drunk foreigner here on a student visa. The driver fled back to his homeland while on bail using one of his mates passport.

In Toongabbie (NSW) we have a large influx of Asian drivers and the antics are astounding.
Yes lines mean nothing, to quote a person, "you have so many lines and signs we don't have those in "xxxx""
Example, car pulls up to kerb to discharge passengers for train station.
Stops in "NO STOPPING" area at the end of bus stop adjacent to pedestrian crossing with lights.
Passengers disembark from BOTH SIDES of car flinging doors open and scaring the bejesus out of the adjacent lane traffic.
Driver then procedes to perform a "HOOK TURN" (Victoria drivers will understand) and uses pedestrian crossing to do so, pushing those pesky pedestrians (mostly his compatriots) out of the way, to reverse his direction.
Just normal driving where he comes from, what's the problem?
I stay away from Toongabbie village center now in peak times!
Fred.

"The driver fled back to his homeland while on bail using one of his mates passport."

That mate may now face going to gaol - obstruction of justice.
