She probably had no insurance after all, or maybe read the policy and figured out the excess she's up for.

Pete if you have the car rego number you can go to the local cops and they will chase her up. You should at least get the write-off value of the car and anything that's drivable has to be worth 500 bucks.

That's why I have comprehensive insurance. As long as you got the details when the accident happened (as you're required to do), just hand it all over to the insurance, and they'll not only get the repairs done for free, they'll also deal with the recalcitrant offender.

I was not there when this happened, my car was parked at the shops .When I returned to my car it was smashed and a note was left from the lady with her phone number, so I phoned her up and she seemed straight forward about it all and she told me the story of how it happened .She said she will phone me back with a quote number. I never received a call back and Ive phoned many times and left messages, but I never received a reply.
I will give the lady the benefit of the doubt and see what happens , perhaps she has had some other problems in her life.

To determine if she's 'doing the dodge' now that she knows your number, try calling her number from a different phone.

Police can do a reverse lookup & find out who she is.
That note sounds close to the old story about someone doing a dodge under same circumstances.

Ok, I will phone from a public phone today as G suggested and that will give me a indication if she is doing the right thing or not.
If not than I will take it to the next step. I cant see how she smashed into my car coming out of the restaurant, must of been some Turps involved I think.

That may not be a conclusive test because public phones show up on Caller ID as "private" or "not available" or something similar and she may not pick up.

I had that problem. The police sorted mine.

These days you can trace the location of just about anyone with their phone number. That said, she should have shown you her licence so her name, address and licence number could be recorded for insurance and accident report purposes.

Sure, but she only left a note on the windscreen then vamoosed.

I guess that is better than what usually happens. People just scarper and the victim is left with a big out of pocket expense.
