ATN-7's studios were in Mobbs Lane, Epping but their first transmitter site was where I said it was. After TEN started transmitting from the Hampden Rd, Artarmon site, 7 co-located with them. That facility is operated by a jointly-owned company.

ATN7 had a microwave tower at their Mobbs Lane site which linked to their original Gore Hill tower, located as GTC mentioned.

When TEN10 began operations they and ATN7 jointly funded the current Artarmon tower on the corner of the Pacific Highway and Mowbray Road.

The original ATN7 tower and the current ABN2 tower were known as the Twin Towers and this is reflected in the name of a nearby motel.

Marcc Your comment about the NBN tower in the valley stinks of the greenies . I can remember when I was working for Telecom and installing a mobile phone repeater in Cowra on top of the hill behind the Japanese Gardens . Apparently the council had offered Telecom the use of their tower which consisted of standard water pipe construction and the greenies put in their two bobs worth suggesting we put our tower in the valley so as it couldn't be seen.

OK, might be talking out of school here, but the reason NBN towers aren't on hill tops is frequency allocation. Only a small set of freq's was allocated by ACMA. They need to be re-used. If they were on hilltops you would have clashes.

Despite what has been said on here, they do have battery backup.They should run for at least 10 hours. More than likely there are fibre issues (birds chewing) or Outdoor unit failure. Saying the power is off is most likely a standard response.

There is also an issue with the coax used for the links, On early installs it was some Chinese 7.6mm cable. Highly unreliable. LDF150 replaces it upon failure or new installs/upgrades

Carl Francis Tallar there will be a website dedicated to it & it will also be sold on eBay. The picture is just a prototype it is not the final colour or even final design in regards to the dial. I will advise a website when the radio goes on sale.

I did hear a rumour that one of the footings for the ATN7 tower is still in place for heritage reasons though I have driven past the tower site (where the building behind Foxtel is located) but cannot seem to find it. One day when I am bored I'll take my camera up there on foot and have a closer look.

No, definitely the footing, though both of the gate posts are still there too, painted yellow but in different locations. I walk past them on the way to work so I'll get photos and publish tomorrow night.
