After some info on Remo radios

There is really nothing to confirm if the Remo's used Lekmek chassis', but it is the closest I've yet seen so far.
I don't have a lot of valve line-up info on Lekmek sets.
It seems they are mainly documented in Wireless Weekly and Radio Review of Australia and other (usually Mingay) publications of the 1930s.

The speakers in both Remo's look more like Magnavox types.

G'Day folks.
There is only a small part of the label left on the speaker housing, no name just "Ltd" left
impedance is 2K.
there are a list of numbers patents?
the only name I could find was on the cone and it was Cadex.
Will take a few more pic's.
I did find an ad for Bennett & Wood in Lismore, selling Remo and Airzone radios in 1937.

Beginning to sound like one of the chassis majors, such as Breville or AWA, was behind these house brands.

2K is unusual but not for the field coil of an electro-dynamic type speaker. For a 6F6 I would expect 7K for the primary of an op transformer.
If it's "Cadex" its Magnavox: If its Cone is Cadex it looks more like cork & falls to pieces, in a similar fashion.

I still say they were made by Briton.
the use of the EK2, being a Philips Valve, and the fact that Briton, made Philips based designs.
In the Mingay IF index there is reference in 1938, to model 27, that it had eight pre-tuned circuits for push-button tuning.
I have the Aorsm on the other computer, but will look tomorrow for the circuit of the model 27, I am thinking the same valve line up, I couldn't see any numbers on the IF housings ..

I don't think we'll find anything closer.
"Briton Electrical & Radio Co., Sydney was founded by John Noel Briton in 1934. The company was registered by 1936. In 1938 the firm manufactured some sets similar to the Philips "Theatrette" radios using chassisless construction. By 1940, if not earlier, Briton sets were manufactured by Philips. J. N. Briton became HMV's factory manager about 1939. The Briton brand was not used after 1940."
And thanks to Trove, their address in 1938 was 152-158 Parramatta Road, Petersham.
That address is now found at Stanmore and these days the original building is occupied by a car parts retailer.

The EL5 is why I missed it originally.
EL5 has a P8 type base, whereas 6F6 is an octal.

I do not see a Philips P base I see pins EL5G is an octal and not a particularly good choice. The grid bias is two volts lower but....
It with 3500K load is capable of 8.8 Watts (close to double 6F6) and requires more volts on the screen than on the plate. Even with a higher load & the 6F6 cathode resistor it is liable to strain the friendship with the transformer & cook it.
Definitely an area to check for component changes.

That's his point. His set has a 6F6 (see post #7) instead of an EL5. The AORSM states EL5.

The EL5G is an octal base Australian Philips Gold Series valve electrically equivalent to the European P-base EL5.
