These days, apparently no politician can make a media announcement without having some slogan pasted on the background screen. Here we have Andrews today with this: "Staying apart keeps us together". I wonder which genius came up with that one?

"Staying apart keeps us together".
Lol ,,. Sounds like a Divorce statement from a do-good counsellor!! That's the type of thing they say Just before they give you the bill for their words of wisdom.

I wonder which genius came up with that one?
All governments have publicity and marketing departments these days and millions is wasted on logos (Like the new Australian Made logo which looks like a coronavirus symbol), slogans, and other BS designed to make a situation look better than it really is.
I am against governments displaying any form of marketing aside from their coat of arms beside the words "Government of [insert state name here]"
I reluctantly support the border closure (I didn't support any closures before) because Chairman Dan has not got the situation under control and the virus snowball effect is in full force - 127 new cases today.
The closure should include a ban on air travel between the two states except for freight and the RFDS.
People who live in the hot spots are jumping the border and using the excuse that school holidays are on. Ummmmm so what? They should all be slapped with the $11,000 fine and sent straight back.
UPDATE: A report has just come in about a lone protestor heading towards the tower exclusion zone being turned around by police. She was equipped with a placard, along with a bag full of food and drink. It's a case of not being able to fix stupid. Someone will always try their luck.

Latest news on how the thing is transmitted is that it's primarily by airborne droplet infection, so masks are the most effective defence.
The researchers claim it behaves like tobacco smoke, it finds its way through crevices and permeates everywhere.
Hand washing et al is only peripherally effective.
I'm not sure I wanted to hear that....

I've seen airborne droplets at work. We can all see it if we look hard enough and the smaller the droplets are the longer they stay up at head height.
Next time you have a cough, have a cough on the mirror in your bathroom standing six foot (or so) back from the mirror. You'll see it caked in the heavier ones that can be projected hard with the force of the cough. The lighter ones can be seen hitting the mirror a few seconds after the coughing has stopped.
Don't discount hand washing. In the ordinary course of a day at work, your hands will touch thousands of solid objects, many of which have been tested and are known to harbour the coronavirus from anything from two hours up to nine days. Most types of lift buttons are the worst offenders. If a coronavirus carrier (they don't have to suffer the disease, just have live virus on their fingers) touches the buttons and they are not cleaned immediately afterwards it could be transmitted for days.
In certain cases masks can help but if they are handled badly by someone who has the virus or are not worn correctly then they can actually be an ally to the virus.
Here's something to pep up isolated Victorians a bit - if you think Melbourne is a hot spot, it's not a patch on Beijing, where unofficial reports claim that there's been a million new cases since their second wave hit a couple of weeks ago. And, the pig flu (H1N1) has respawned too. At least with Melbourne, we will be told the truth on the stats which is something we cannot seem to ever get from the CCP.

I am still backing my idea. We can now see that getting the Army to put a rabbit proof fence around Melbourne entirely would have stopped the sabotage & the virus from getting out of Melbourne to where it is now. Viz. in places it never was in rural Victoria.
It is now becoming more & more obvious that we are being governed by a bunch of headless chooks. Its spreading through Melbourne like wildfire, so the patently obvious thing would have been to seal all of it. This is not the colonial era, there are a massive number of border crossings to now seal. The radius needed to seal Melbourne is far less.
That is a new strain of Swine Flu & as I said, Victoria is ready for it. They have within State Breeding Parks, more than enough feral pigs to spread it everywhere.

We now have a visiting professsor in London claiming that it started outside of Asia. I'm sure he'll be very welcome in China.
QUOTE: London: Coronavirus may have lain dormant across the world and emerged when environmental conditions were right for it to thrive - rather than starting in China, an Oxford University expert believes.
Dr Tom Jefferson, senior associate tutor at the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine at Oxford University, and visiting professor at Britain's Newcastle University, says there is growing evidence the virus was elsewhere before it emerged in Asia.

There was a report that they had found it in the Spanish sewers a long time ago.
Bubonic Plague is one that requires specific conditions in which to proliferate and is temperature sensitive.
In viticulture harvesting equipment is heated in a specific shed to 50 degrees for a period of time before moving to a different site.

There are so many news items popping up about various aspects of Covid19 that it's hard to trust any of them.
It will be many years down the track before we really fully know how it started and how it's transmitted.
However I think the lockdown in Victoria should have been universal again.
That way no one can claim they are being victimised.
The tenants of the high rise council flats are whinging like crazy but they are only in lockdown for 5 days.
Surely they have enough in their pantry's to last a few days.
If everyone had done the right thing after the first lockdown we wouldn't be back in this predicament (sigh).

Should see the Roads today!
Tons of Victorians trying to get over the border before it closes.
Many pulling Vans .
What a bloody mess the Victoria government has made of the virus and the silly protests!
We were winning this battle before That !
