Does anyone have a Metrix 310B or other Metrix valve tester???
I have 'acquired' one .... made in France ..... all Manuals that I have found so far are the wrong model, written in French and with blurry circuit diagrams. I have translated this Manual via Google translator, but the result is somewhat disappointing. I knew I should have been more attentive in French classes ....... but her accent was sooooo distracting ......
From the Manual, this Tester seems to be a mutual conductance tester. Okay .... so on the Grid I expected to see a small AC signal riding on a negative DC bias. Nuh, only an ACvoltage which can be varied up to 50 volts, no DC bias .......and from my exploring so far, I cannot see how a negative DC bias could be applied to the Grid ....... Yet ...... the Selector switch on front panel states "Neg Grid voltage".
Either I am doing something wrong, or it's broken, or I don't properly understand how this thing is supposed to work or ??????
So before I go 'blinder' by trying to trace out all the connections, I am hoping that some-one has an English translation of the Manual, or clear circuit diagram, or can explain how it is supposed to work ..... anyone????

Not having the circuit to look at is not helpful, but even a blurry version can be re-drawn & compared. I have a transformerless one here that should never have been let into the country, however, what you may be forgetting is that the valve can rectify. Eg. Lyric 70 series uses a #24 with its grid tied to plate to supply the 80V or so to the grid of a #50.
There may be a diode/s in there, but as you have noted we need to get the circuit even if it has to be hand drawn based on what you have, & reverse engineering.

I found the English instruction manual for my unit - it is a Metrix 310, but doesn't have a letter after the number? Do you want me to copy it for you? I only have the circuit as above.
Robert

If that's the one, then there are members of Radiomusem on this site who could get you the schematic.

You can also get the schematic without being a member - something that must have changed a couple of months ago. You can't get other details (enlarged pictures), but you can get the circuit emailed to you. In any case, I'll send it to Brad to upload on this site.

What's the process for that?

Hey Robert,
Arhhhh .... that one didn't show up in my searches ..... Yes, that is it. A couple of insignificant differences eg. mine has the power cord entering the Unit rather than the plug as shown in photo; the lamp on mine is different also.
The circuit shown, although a bit blurry, appears to be very close to what I have drawn myself. l would want to check it more closely to be certain, but it is much, much closer than the 310CTR variant circuit that l have been using as a 'starting point' ..... l can no longer lift this circuit off my desk for fear of big slabs of White-out cracking and falling off ....
I would very much like to get a copy of the English Manual and circuit as is ..... even blurry, it will be very useful. Do you have a hardcopy? Or in electronic format??
My email address should be visible ...

GTC,
It's simple. Just go to the site and click on the actual thumbnail of the circuit. A larger cut off version of the circuit will then appear. Then click on that image and it will bring up a pop up that asks you to fill in your name and give an email, and confirm you're not a robot, and it will be sent. I've been using it for several months (I'm not a member of the site, yet)
Robert.

Hi Robert,
Just saw that circuit as per Post 6 .... yep, that's it.

Hi Tinkera123,
I have a hard copy, in reasonable condition. I can photograph the pages ( around 20 I think) or take them to work and scan them (but I couldn't do that for a couple of weeks). I can send them to Brad for posting, or just email them to you. What would you prefer Brad? I should also send them to the Radiomuseum website for others, as I've had others ask about this unit in the past and they must be scarce?
Robert.

Hi Robert,
Photographs emailed would be great .... I thank in advance for your effort.

Robert69: Thanks for that. In the past, IIRC, if you clicked on the image to enlarge it a pop-up said you must be a member to do that. Now it says:
"As a guest you can get a limited amount of documents. We send each page by eMail. For getting schematics/documents please fill in the fields. You have access within the following limit:
A maximum of 3 documents a day.
A maximum of 10 documents within 30 days.
The eMail address has to reach you directly. Otherwise the system can not serve you."
I wonder when that feature was implemented?

Good idea. V-R member Sirwin may be able to upload that for you.
