Hello!

Wondering if anyone recognises this HMV sterephonic radiogram?

It has 7 valves,

1 x 6AN7
1 x 6N8
1 x 6CA4
2 x 6BQ5
2 x 12AX7

I am trying to identify what chassis model this is, so I can find the schematic diagram for it,

there are old paper labels on the power cord, but extremely faded,
all I can read are what looks like , chassis no. CB 617 but not certain.

Unfortunately the model no. on the rear of the chassis has smeared and totally illegible.

Hopefully someone may know what this is?

Please see the photos for visual clues...

Many Thanks,
Neil

Likely model L1-4U (from 1958) or L1-4Z (from 1960).

Both used the L1 chassis.

Thanks GTC, much appreciated,

That looks very close but not exact. Probably enough info to help with repair though.

I have uploaded some photos of the cabinet and chassis, but they do not yet appear, probably by tonight / tomorrow morning I'm guessing.

There is only a single pair of 12AX7's on this chassis, the models you suggested have 2 pairs,

but looks very close indeed!

I appreciated your prompt reply.

the models you suggested have 2 pairs

They have one pair of 12AX7s and one pair of 6BQ5s, for a total of 7 valves overall.

Here is the schematic and service notes: https://www.kevinchant.com/uploads/7/1/0/8/7108231/chassis_type_l1.pdf

Thankyou kindly GTC, you're a star!

Sorry, I did indeed make a mistake, not of course realising that the 12AX7's are a dual triode,
took a quick glance at the schematic and looked like 4 separate valves, silly me...

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

Its is a Model L1-4U,

You can see the model number inked on the chassis above the oscillator padder adjust.

Despite being stereo compatible, the extension speaker (for stereo) and stereo pick-up headshell were sold as optional extras.
