I would like to order one too Ian. I would like to build a power supply for my 1936 Stromberg Carlson battery receiver. Sam

Thanks guys, I've had a minor delay but will get these under way in January.
When I went to email the PCB file, I found that the copy of the PCB file on the server at work has been accidentally over-written some time ago
so the server backups don't help me.
My email archive doesn't go back that far and the people who made the last PCBs are now out of business!
But I do have a copy on my old desktop that's in the garage - I'll pull this out during the break, it's just too crazy at work right now!
I would normally just re-netlist it from the schematic and do it again but I went to a lot of trouble at the time to get the 4 piece PCB to fit in the low profile plastic case, forming the transformer holder and the front and back panels - you'll see what I mean when you get the boards, it's a work of art! I must have had some time on my hands when I did it....
I designed it as a way of re-purposing surplus stock obsolete parts after production changed over to surface mount, and as something to do at home when I was full-time carer for my late wife. I sold quite a few on EBay. I still have good stock of most of the parts in the garage.

Hello Ian, I would be interested in purchasing 3 boards and cases if any still available.
Thanks Dave. djjensenau gmail.com

Sorry guys, the copy of the PCB file I had at work was corrupted/truncated.
I tried to run up my old home XP desktop from the garage but no joy. I'll have to pull the drive, bring it to work and try that way.
I'll see how I go before the weekend - other stuff always comes up!
Else I could re-create it - pain in the neck because the plastic case integration was complicated.

What do you need on that XP machine? I have a functional XP box with Eagle 7.3.0 Light on it if that helps.

Thanks GTC, I just need the .PCB file.
I's OK. We have tools here in the office for pulling stuff off orphan drives even if they won't boot.

I noted another commercial PSU builder may have had the same issue and also fits a 0.01mfd cap in series with the ground to the sets.
As said things go awry if you ground Neg or Pos. It may be worth trying, to see if you get sparks & have voltages go funny, grounding Neg & Pos. The earth was good where I used to live for a while: I had it connected to a bore casing 124ft in the ground into 80' of water.

Sorry guys we've had a nasty problem with these big 4K LCDs to solve at work which has taken up all my time. It's been holding up production in Korea.
I did manage to find two sets of bare boards. I have built up one unit to test (because the years between designing this board and now have dimmed my memory!) and I will resolve some case fit issues before I get the boards made.At present it will only fit together if you grind some plastic off the inside of the case. I think I can fix this.
Soon, I promise!

It's related to the V-by-One link from the image processor SOC to the TCON board.
When displaying certain images at high refresh rates things get hot. That's normal, there's a lot of stuff being switched very quickly!
But the extra heat affects the link cable enough to change the dielectric constant of the material. As the eye starts to close, this triggers V-by-One's link training routine, causing visible artifacts. In extreme cases the firmware re-initialises and that causes a momentary blink of the backlight.
Well, that's a simplified version! A lot happened to get to here.....

Glad that I'm retired now.
Was a service agent for several of the well known brands.
We once did several courses with a Korean technical expert, but unfortunately he did not speak a word of English.
And the translator we supplied did not know any technical terms, ie Korean to English.
They were fun days, Cheers, JJ.

Ian,
For my immediate uses of the 4 boards the size is not an issue I can fit my 2 inside the radios waiting for power supplies as are old free standing consoles. Same for my mate his needs are for old large 2V radios. So we can fit boards of almost any size as oodles of space.
Re the 4K issues.. Can you really see the difference between 1080 & 4K on a TV screen??? For cinema screens as they get larger 4K material appears better but it is purely due to the screen size.
When I converted my past outdoor cinema with a 10M wide screen I converted some old newsreels that were from a DVD to a DCP package so the cinema server would accept them. They were upscaled by the NEC machine from 720P to 1080P and you had to stand only a metre or so away from the screen to see any pixilation. I was very surprised at just how good the old Black & White images looked.
Many times after that for community groups I had to run their DVD's for their docos etc & most were 720P & again the NEC upscaled brilliantly & the screen quality was almost as good as the normal cinema movies.
So for a domestic situation 4K seems gross overkill to me & I think that is going to be a long time before we see any Free To Air 4K material..if ever.

4K won't happen. There's only four or five channels that are FHD and they are only 1080i, not the apparently better 1080p. Some channels are still broadcasting in 576 and that is pathetic in this day and age. The ACMA has seriously ballsed up the whole digital television broadcasting system by not allocating sufficient bandwidth to allow the simultaneous broadcast of every channel in FHD. To be honest, unless your screen is 2 metres or more, most people would be quite happy with FHD and that includes me.
One thing has to happen first though - the quality of television programming has to markedly improve. Most of what we watch on the 25 or so free to air channels is quite simply garbage. Apart from the cricket in summer and the footy in winter plus one or two other shows, there is nothing on television that remotely interests me.
4K is false advertising too - there isn't 4,000 pixels but a mere 3840. There is a much rarer 8K format too but we won't see used for free to air television it in our lifetime.

Agreed that 99% of TV is garbage. However there are a few shows I like to watch, so it's not a complete loss.
4K is false advertising too - there isn't 4,000 pixels but a mere 3840
Rounding error. :P
