I'm afraid you are wasting your time with random checking of components.
And you probably won't get much more assistance if you fail to answer well thought out responses from some very talented people on this forum.

Yes JJ I concur. Pete, you won't find it that way. The shotgun approach will usually introduce more faults. A big waste of time. You have to get systematic.
If you like, I can give you a list of voltages to measure -
(1 ) - as soon as the set shows a raster (column 1), and
(2 ) - again after 15 minutes (column 2).
Identify the points on the chassis to measure. I can help with this. Mark them with a marker pen on the chassis to avoid mistakes.
Fill in the list with accurate voltage measurements for both columns and I WILL be able to tell you from the numbers what to replace.
Would you like me to do this?

Hello Ian,, Yes Please , I would Appreciate that,,I'm trying to learn as much as I can. You can email them to me if thats better for you.
Ian,,Can you please , tell me what my post about 6cm5 Anode has told us ? and the very mild warmth of the flyback?
if the Anode was glowing ? what would that symptom point too ??
Thank you & All the bes,t Pete

If the 6CM5 anode is glowing (it's actually called "showing some colour!) it means it is being operated outside its normal ratings - do this for too long and you will kill the valve.
In a TV horizontal deflection circuit it can be caused by four things:
1. No drive from the line oscillator, hence no bias. Screen will not light at all, ever.
2. A fault in the driven load forcing it to work too hard. Like a car with 4 flat tyres and a heavy load.
3. A fault in the stabilisation circuit, possibly the VDR. This last point is theoretical only, I have never encountered it myself. So, very unlikely.
4. A fault in the 6CM5 itself
Are you seeing colour on the 6CM5 anode?
Just confirming you HAVE tried running the set with the "Throttle" pot turned to its lowest setting?
Any temperature rise in the "flyback" windings after only 15 minutes running is cause for concern.
I will prepare an annotated picture for you showing the test points, and a list. You need to make these measurements quickly and confidently while the TV is running. I'll post it here because it might help others too. I have grandpa duties today, tomorrow might work.

Hello Ian,,,
Thank you,,
1 There is No glowing on Anode 6CM5, I"m just learning how you identify a problem ,That points to the next thing to check.
2/ Throttle is set low
My friend "" Dany"" who also collects TV's Has a hard copy of the schematic for me so that will help me out a bit.
Ian no rush on that Measurement page, My Daughter who is 2 is sick so I have my hands full anyway.
Just when you get a chance.
Thank you Pete
PS Bummer! I missed out on the swap meet today,,,next time)
