I sometimes hear about Airplayers when mentioned with other brands but never in a discussion about those sets in particular.
I bumped into the following site after a search on Yahoo 7.
http://members.iinet.net.au/~kororke/page%204/pic2.htm.
It may not help much though it was the first site I ran into.

Thanks for the information.
The name placement as described in your reference is probably in the same position as my radio. I will check the valve line up, it may be that it is the same schematic although mine has five control functions, later model?
It could be the lead I am after, terrific.

Maybe this will help, I have checked the line up, details are: KK2, IM56, IK76, IK76, IL56. The chassis is stenciled 48, stamped 256. There is a round tuning dial with zones TAS, SA, NZ, NSW and KC and underneath the controls are on/off, tone, tuner, bc/sw and volume. As an ex WA guy I do not take it personally that WA is not mentioned.
If that information helps someone help me that`s great, the Yahoo 7 idea did not lead anywhere - different valve types completely, but thanks. Here`s hoping!

Sounds odd that two states are missing. I think "KC" merely means KiloCycles (kHz). Normally when a radio's dial only includes half of the states they make seperate dials for east and west. One example is the AWA Radiola "Champion" of the late 1940's - it has got a dial for NSW and QLD on radios sold in those states and another for VIC, TAS, SA and WA. Some radios only included a dial for the state they were sold in, probably under pressure from radio stations to discourage interstate listening at night - then again, that is just a conspiracy theory of mine.
If you are able to take a picture of the radio with a digital camera and e-mail the photo to Brad mail.vintage-radio.com.au I will publish it in your original post here. It may help others who want to help.
