Also does anyone have a picture of what a 6V6, 6M5 and a 6X5GT look like?

For the purpose of identification, photos of valves can sometimes be uninformative or even misleading as there are often variations of each type. For example, here's an assortment of 6V6 valves:

Here are some 6X5 valves:

And here's a 6M5:

Hi there guys ok... from looking at the pic of a 6M5, I believe it would be wise to conclude that what I must have is a 5A50, because it is too small, the "... 6AV6, 6V6 and 6X5GT." end line up seems to match more with what it is.
I actually found I have a 6AV6 so I'm only missing the 2 larger ones, the 6V6 and the 6X5GT.

So if all goes well maybe this little mystery is solved. Now I will hunt down some of those missing valves I need and see if plugging them in gets me some sound.

I'd be wanting to verify my guess by carefully checking the existing components around the valve sockets against the 5A50 schematic before plugging any valves in and powering up.

Do you have the schematic?

Some are, but many are not.

If you unhide your email address via Control Panel I'll send you a copy.

Yes the "Velvet Action" is a very troublesome changer. This is because the idler wheel doesn't automatically disengage from the motor pulley when not in use. This causes a flat, or more rather, a crescent spot on the idler wheel rubber.

One of the greatest causes of the arm underneath sticking, platters locking, etc. is that the grease has dried out. The Fisk HMV of the Radio Club here recently did that.

The turntables do need lubrication at regular intervals. The Grease soaps do dry out often locking shafts. Cleaning & re-lubricating solved the problem with the Club one & several others over the years.

All of the old grease should be removed, mixing grease soaps of different type & manufacturers can (and I have seen it; CASA wrote an article on it) cause the soap to solidify and loose all lubricating propeties.
