Gday all, I have just joined the site. I recently bought an old HMV radiogram, it is missing one valve and has no model number written on it anywhere. I would be gratefull if someone coud help me idenitfy both the model and missing valve.

The current tube layout is (L-R from the rear) 6J8GA, 6U7G, 6B6G, missing valve (6V6GT??) and diode/resistor substitute for 5Y3GT?? - Hope this helps

I will glady send you a couple of pics of it via email if that helps.

Thanks is advance.
Cheers
Scott

G'day Scott,

If you'd like your images posted with your comment you can e-mail them to me (address is shown on my profile page) and I will sort it out.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

I just found this thread. I don't know if you have found the answer in the meantime, but I note that in the period 1948-50 HMV was quite fond of the lineup:

6J8GA, 6U7G, 6B6G, 6V6GT, 5Y3GT

Some candidate models for your radiogram seem to be:

118 (1948) BC only,
D43A (1949) BC & SW,
E43C (1950) BC & SW.

That power transformer looks like it's been roasted.
