It will normally be those caps on the parts list marked paper, that will need to go. 630V is now the general replacement voltage.

I have a pet hate for 450V electrolytics, mainly from failures. I would suggest 500V. The original value is likely superseded.

Before you touch anything and even if its been monkeyed with in a previous life, take good photos of the works inside the pan. The tripod is not dead and auto focus is not your friend: You need to focus on the middle of the works with a high "f" stop. That's your layout diagram.

That shows where everything was: Before being put where it wasn't.

Any sign of tampering should ring alarm bells and that area checked for mis wiring & wrong parts.

Hi Ron, I checked with Kevin Chants site and he has a circuit diagram and a few notes on the 11-88.
Looks like a nice set up.

Some time ago I refurbished an 11-60.
It's a different animal being a mantle set but there may be some commonality in parts etc.
The refurb is documented in the 'special projects' section on this site.
Just scroll down and find the reference to 11-60.

Good luck with the project!

Cheers,

I gave a link to that in post #2.

Thread title says 11-81a, but the content refers to 11-88.

Which is it?

.Ron created another thread saying that he meant to say it's an 81a.

Many members don't seem to realise that they can edit any of their previous threads.
