Hi everyone, can anyone help me with a model number of this Philips Radioplayer?

Philips Radioplayer

The valves are
5Y3GT
6V6GT
6D6
VR101
6J8G

I am not sure if all the valves are the correct ones photo to follow.

Thanks, George.

There is a model 3041B on Ebay at the moment, though it is a three-knob version.

There is no sticker on the back of the radio to show us what model it is I want to restore it but I have hit a snag as I don't know the model number of it.

I tried an image search on Bing and Google and drew a blank which is a bit surprising - it wasn't one of Philips' less common models. I own one of these in the rarer black cabinet but it is halfway across the state.

Brad this is a Black cabinet but it looks brown in this photo and it has brown knobs for contrast.

Ahhhh. Yes I did notice the knobs more brown though in bad light (which can't be helped at this time of the day) will make black Bakelite give off a browny tinge.

Yes, wrong valves. Wartime economy model.

Look at 3252. If it is, the valve line-up should be EK2G, 6D6, 6B6G, 6F6G & 5Y3G. The post war version, 3252A is in volume 5 of the AORSM.

Also have a look at the 3052, page 249, volume 5 of the AORSM. The valve line up for the 3052 is EK2G or EK32, 6D6 or 6U7G, 75 or 6B6G, 6F6G & 5Y3G.

It seems that all the war time models that used the 6D6 also used the EK2G octode instead of a 6J8G. Maybe your radio having a 6J8G is the reason why you cant receive anything below 1100.

I've estimated this radio to have been built around 1942 due to the absence of 2NA (Newcastle) on the dial.

I had enough of this set as I could not get it to operate below 1100 and took it to an expert friend and it took him 5 seconds to fix one of the plates on the Tuning condenser was Bend and shorting out.
I don't know why I did not even think of that I thought of sharing my story for others that might have a similar problem.
All the valves were fine

Bent plates are very common when sets are being serviced: Normally an outer one.

It does pay to keep the vanes closed when working on sets or transporting a chassis.
