This morning I got a call from a friend who had rescued an old radio from being trashed. Details on the face plate:-

AUST. ARMY AMENITIES SERVICE
Type C17020
Serial Number 00000437
1945
Manufactured by A.W.A. Ltd. Sydney, Australia
2 Bands 550 to 1650 KC and 6 to 18 MC
Tuning knob has a built-in clutch/fine tuning mechanism
Knobs are Volume, ON–OFF switch, Range MW SW, Tone

Valve lineup 1M5G x 2, 1C7G, 1K7G, 1L5G 3 valves are missing

Chassis has no identifying numbers, but the face plate has several U-joint type connections (?) to the chassis …. so I am sure they are from the same radio. The cabinet, however, appears to be from a different radio.

I will post some photos after I have peeled back the many layers of dirt, cobwebs, possum poo etc …….if anyone is interested.

In the meantime, to help me to decide what to do with this radio …. does anyone have a circuit diagram, anyone know the history of this type of radio etc..

Just found a web site with most of the info I require

Photos of the cabinet and, if possible, the guts will help with some of your queries. If you want them hosted here just e-mail them to me and I will do the rest. My address is on my profile page.

G'day Ian,

No e-mails have arrived in the last few days and before that the mail server had to be upgraded.

When did you last try to send? Also, what error messages did you receive?
