Hi All,
George here, I finally decided to create a new membership as for some reason every attempt I have made over the last few years to log on or retrieve my password as failed and I have never worked out why. I do not blame Brad as I am prone to give up easily when it comes to using the internet and passwords etc. I would have done this sooner but using my email original address for a new username would never work?
Those I have interacted with on this site in the past I had used the username Captgogo. This site for some reason does not like it or my email address.

Anyway, it is great to be back as I always found this site the best for exchanging technical information and though the different radio facebook groups are useful this site that Brad created is for me, the best place to discuss the hobby we love most and to share in our collective experience
Thanks George

Did you ever try using Contact Administrator in the top menu?

Hi GTC ,
I did use the email address provided by the "retrieval" of password process on this site. I also reached out to Carl Tallar and he provided me with an email address for Brad but no response. I think I also used the email address in the contact administrator which I think we used back when I was on to send the photos to be uploaded.
But I just had a look at the email address in the "Contact Administrator" and it seems different to the one I had used in the past? Did this change recently like the last years or so?

Hi George, welcome back.
Just roll your eyes, it's the brave new world we live in!
Whatever works is what you use.

I'm 80 yo and contribute regularly.
Sometimes the site works ok, sometimes not so well for all the reasons discussed by Brad.
I just send stuff to Brad using the admin email, and post on the site here.

One hint, if you have a long post: type it in the thread and then save by COPY.
Sometimes the site can: drop out/freeze/ give up/fall asleep, (pick your reason) in the middle of a long post and leave you stranded and you loose your brilliant thoughts.

For instance I just typed this, highlighted by mouse drag and CTRL C . this saves a COPY.
If the site has dropped out I log on again once its available and CTRL V, to PASTE my brilliance into the thread.

Cheers, Fred.

Alternatively, type it in Word or some other such app, and then copy it from there onto here.

IIRC the answer is yes. I think that Brad had some difficulty with the company that hosts this site. I guess he will chime in if and when he sees this.

Hi Fred, how you are doing and great to hear from you again. I will need to catch up on your latest projects in the projects section.

GTC/Fred, great suggestions, if I have a lengthy post, I will do it in word and check I am being efficient with my words, then copy and paste.
Also to clarify, future responses, should I copy part of the post and include it my response?

I see we still need to send any photos to Brad to be uploaded and I understand that.

Maybe I did not emphasise it enough it in my return post, I grateful to Brad for setting up and managing this site for over 22 years. I have no complaints, the problem I have had getting back on are my responsibility.

I look forward to contributing and supporting all on this site and I am not afraid to ask questions, I am forever learning.

G'day George,

I've just got back from some time away so my apologies for not being around. Yes, my e-mail did change about five years ago as I did indeed strike some trouble with a former hosting company and because they pretty much destroyed the database for this site I took the responsibility for hosting back "in house" and do the job myself again.

It was a valuable lesson - never use companies where the staff are on a different continent to the servers.

I am glad you made it back none-the-less. If there's still an outstanding issue you can either let me know here or click on my name to access the current e-mail address. I don't mind uploading any photos that members desire in their posts - partly due to the frustrations over rebuilding the database and also due to changes in career, I no longer do web development so further features are unlikely to be added.

Thanks Brad,
It is good to be back.
I appreciate the work you have done in maintaining this site for as long as you have and look forward to it continuing.

It'll remain, for as long as I can help it. Smile
