They should say "digital-only station". 2CH has been on digital since it was launched as are all the AM and FM stations in all the capitals. 2CH has also probably been the most vocal about their DAB+ simulcast.
I'll miss Bob. When I worked at my last job, Bob was not just on for Saturday nights but also each morning at 9 or 10 o'clock. I can't remember which but he was there every day and rarely took a sickie.
I just pray to live more than 78 years, never mind the career being that long. He's done very well.

I heard much of Bob's last show last night. He had quite a following and for a good reason. He just did the job and didn't go out of his way to be controversial. I just hope he doesn't miss being at the console too much in retirement and long may his retirement be a happy one.

The top 100 album countdown finished, with Hot August Night as #1, and Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band at #2.
Then normal music resumed, so not dead yet.
I wonder if they will continue streaming the music online after the changeover. If so, then you could plug your computer's audio output to an AM transmitter in your house.

I was with the selection of albums right up to No2.
Then we have "Hot August Night" as no 1????????????????????.
The Lord save me.
Comparing to albums like Tapestry, Sgt Peppers, Simon and G ? Nowhere near!
Actual melodies, lyrics and actual muical variation.
August Night is a colleseum performance and after 10 minutes you start to feel like poking your eyes out with a blunt stick!
Audience prepped up with red cordial, brute force music, (if its crap just throw more instruments at it and add amplifiers and deafen the buggers)
about 2 actual melodies and endless repetition, repeat and rinse music.aggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhh.
I changed channel to 2MMM!
Fred.

Well with the forum down, we never did finish this story.
2CH was taken over by SEN, and became a sports station. I listened to the cricket for a while, but once that ended there's no more point to listening to them.
SEN also took over lots of other stations. So the low-powered 1539 in Sydney was also taken over. That station is too weak to hear in my Sydney location over the hash, so if they expect anyone to listen to it they will have to add more power, like they did with 2CH.
SEN also took over the Gosford community station 801 and added power to it. SEN also took over the Brisbane church station 1053, that's the one that wipes out 2CA at night with only 500 watts.
SEN has procured every miscellaneous AM station in NSW that it could get its hands on. I wonder if anyone even listens to them.

2CH is still around but on digital radio.
SEN has procured every miscellaneous station in NSW that it could get its hands on. I wonder if anyone even listens to them.
Given that Sydney already has a myriad of sports stations, SEN is likely to become the next version of 2SM - owner of dozens of stations which no-one listens to.

I hope that music stations will remain. When you are fixing a radio and get sick of gas bagging on the stronger ABC stations, the music stations are welcome when the final alignment brings them in.
I also hope that SEN is not a symptom of the final demise of AM transmissions.

It's funny, I remember mentioning something in a post here about 18 months or so back - that 2CH had dropped the "1170" branding. One day I start up the car (hadn't been used a while, thanks Covid) and all of a sudden "what the heck is this crap?"
I thought I had done something wrong until I did the research.
