I have enough for the current project, however I thought I would get some more through the HRSA unfortunatley they no longer stock it.
Stan has given me a contact in USA. Does anyone have a supplier in Australia? I was not going to do anymore of this stuff , but hey I am back into it.

Jaycar sell packs of pvc spaghetti that can be very useful for this situation.
Just undo one end of perished wire, slip on spaghetti, and all’s done.
I don’t consider cotton covered wire essential unless you really want to restore to original. And that’s impossible anyway.
Jaycar spaghetti is made for high voltage applications.

Different era because I like 60s stuff which sometimes has that cotton check lead,
I get it off old Irons etc etc ,looks right on the lamps and some radios and is great quality.
