My Apple iPad 2 no longer compatible with eBay. I do have other devices I can use. I am just annoyed by this. Went to use it on eBay this morning and it said the version is out of date. Tried to update it and the new version not compatible. They blocked the old version and rendered it useless I just get sick of all this cannot afford another Ipad
I am using a very nasty Telstra tablet not a patch on the Ipad, but I I have a fair idea where it was made.

You can either download the Firefox or Chrome app Jimb
I'd recommend Firefox

I will say I do like apples iPads but I’d never buy one of their new macs
Gone is the time where they were serviceable and had I/O ports for even basic things like USB sticks!
I generally either use Windows or Linux. But I do have a iPad.
Linux is great for most things but you have to be a bit more savvy to use it and have time to sit down and understand how it works for anything more complicated.
For a older computer I’d install linux if all you need it for is internet, email and open office.
What’s great about Linux is it’s open source which means your privacy stays private! Another reason why I don’t like google chrome.
Google tracks and sells everyone’s information for profit.
If you want to move away from tracked browsing use DuckDuckGo.com

I bought my first Mac in 2008. It was a iMac.
It worked night and day for 7 years and then of course it could not be updated any longer and that was the end.
In the 7 years ,no issues ,not one .
No crappy virus pop ups ,warnings.
Great software for images.
So I'm buying another Mac .
I've had a wheelbarrow full of PC and window laptops since the loss of the Mac.
Problematic!

I too had an iMac for many years and yes it worked great till it became redundant.
I don't particularly like Windows computers especially widows 10 or 7 .widows 95 and XP were so easy to use for a non computer literate person such as myself. I do have a laptop that a friend gave me with Linux on it however I tend not to use it because I find it a bit complicated. I much prefer tablets. I don't particularly like sitting at a desk much rather sit in a comfortable chair. The same one I lie back in asleep, mouth open sucking in the blowflies not bothering anyone.

As you say macs have a great operating system.
The thing with apple is they make the hardware and the software.
This simple fact means that their software can be extremely efficient and well optimised while windows and Linux have to be compatible with billions of different computers and configurations.
Yes I massively dislike windows 10. It’s way over the top and is horribly optimised.
Windows XP was probably the best windows variant ever made.
I have a windows 98 computer so I can reprogram old Motorola, Icom and Codan radios.
Jimb
I can perfectly understand why you’d rather a tablet, Linux definitely has a learning curve as it had to be written completely differently so neither apple or Microsoft could sue them for copying different aspects of their operating systems.
Probably the most friendly is Linux mint as it still has a somewhat “windows” feel.
My problem with newer macs is that they can’t be upgraded at all as everything from RAM to your storage SSD is soldered directly to the board! (MacBooks only) so what happens when the computer dies? Just get your data off it? Well you can’t because your storage is paired with the motherboard and can’t be recovered!!!
Newer iMacs suffer a similar fate with the only way to open them is by carefully using a heat gun on the sides of the screen to loosen the adhesive to pull the screen off! Only then can you access the internals.
This to me is the single reason why I don’t like newer macs (last 5 years or so) because they are designed to be single use so when something goes wrong they will just tell you to buy a new one.
I HATE the whole disposable society thing.
Anyway enough of a rant for one night

Lance,
You would have far more knowledge on computers than me. I'm not interested in computers, in fact I'm interested in anything built after 1964. but I need a computer, because I use it to sell items .
Have a look at the iPad 7th Gen cellular 10.2 inch and give me your opinion please.

Alright Pete
Looking into it the iPad 7th gen with cellular is pretty good for $700 for the 32gb model. but where it lacks is mainly it’s CPU.
(Central processing unit) as it has the now four year old apple A10 cpu.
In my opinion I’d go for the iPad Air cellular 10.5 inch which has the A12 CPU which is a little over twice as powerful. Plus it has 64gb of storage which is twice the offering of the cheaper iPad 7th gen.
Because the iPad Air is only $250 more but has double the storage and a significantly newer CPU, and thus will last longer, it makes sense to me to go with the Air just for future proofing.
It’s more expensive but it should last you longer.
Here a link to apples site so you can see for yourself.
https://www.apple.com/au-hed/shop/buy-ipad/ipad-air/64gb-space-grey-wifi-cellular
I think it’s worth it for the extra $250 when you get twice the storage and twice the processing power.
I hope that helps.
Lance

Um not to mention that apple is made in china lol. I use samsung phones and tablets because I find them far easier to use and they are made in korea.
Jimb if you google a company named cex you will find they sell 2nd hand apple and samsung tablets with a 2 year warranty. I have used them before and are really great.

Not only that but apple has moved about 20% of production to India! If they can save a penny they will!
Your right about CeX! I’ve bought a few things from them and they have great prices on used gear.

Samsung and phones etc etc .
Samsung tabs are good I've had one.
But eBay has a major problem with Android.
If you upload quality images from Android to eBay there are issues.
From windows it's fine ,from Apple it's fine.
Which is ok if your selling small cheap items ,but once you step in to large items and high price tags Android is no good for Ebay
