Fred I think your spot on

I think what Australia needs is a thorium power plant! Reason being is that thorium can’t reach a fissile state without a small amount of plutonium put near it. Why is this good? Well it makes a meltdown near impossible with the addition of meltable plugs to drop the thorium in the worst case scenario.
Plus it only needs to be used as a stepping stone as fusion reactors are being developed all around the world which won’t use any radioactive material at all thus no waste and no radioactive danger while the reactors not operating.
Australia could seriously jump ahead with this stuff rather than making horrible wind turbines or attempting to support the grid with solar panels which will all end up in landfill in 10-20 years anyway!

It’s crazy that people say nuclear isn’t renewable because it can be and without it we wouldn’t exist at all! The sun is the biggest reactor we have close to us and it has created a environment for all the life that exists around us
