'As new'. Sounds like he's never actually seen a new item in his life.

GTC , I think G that some people will say anything to get you there in the hope of a chance to make some cash . I go lots of places looking at old stuff and I have noticed there is a lot of stuff that has been prettied up and Doctored up around the place ,, Always bodged work too ..
I dont mind if things are rough and original and the price is right ,Its no good if its rough and NOT Original.

Hello Marc, I look at all kinds of old secondhand stuff , Mainly Furniture, Radiograms are just an interest for me and I have a few so these days I'm only interested in buying ones that are in good original condition due to the time thats flashing by at the speed of light !!!!!! ..
Generally, I'm only interested in, Kriesler 6 , or 11 97 , 11 103 , 11 77 and 94 . Once there is no Valves there is no interest.

Gumtree seller? I have listed a few things on Gumtree over the years and I always give as much detail as I can and plenty of photos because I don't want tyre kickers to waste my time. Traveling to the workshop just to give someone a look at something that they are not really interested in is not my idea of fun. So far that approach has worked well. The only time it didn't involved a woman who bombarded me with emails asking questions about a marine radar screen, that I had already described in detail and given numerous photos of, only to say that it wasn't what she had in mind when she saw it (!)

Once a guy traveled down by train from Newcastle on a Saturday to pick up a VHF radio from me. As I was already committed that day to helping with a school fete we arranged to meet at a nearby train station.

But G your not a crook ,ive met you and you're a decent fella , Many of the places I go to buy stuff is where one might bump into a crook , but some people are just desperate for money or a change of life has happened and they just want it gone!! ohh I like those ones !!
I advertise wanted to buy on gumtree and FB and many forums too, mostly you go there to look at the item which was the topic but come home with anther one of their items

I once bought a ladder from a Gumtree seller out Minchinbury way. I don't usally buy ladders second hand but this one was a bargain. There was something about the seller that struck me as strange and I wondered afterwards if maybe I was inadvertently buying stolen goods. Some time later, I attended a garage sale up Asquith way that I was told about in relation to some vintage Atco mower bits that I needed. Lo and behold there was the ladder seller buying up tools and other stuff, so I guess that he was genuine.

Sad stories,, I went to this house one day to buy Furniture, I had spotted the sale notice on the telegraph pole stating all must go so I popped in as I was already doing the rounds buying stock, This was up the coast a few years back when I was buying tons of stock , Anyway I turn up at the house and the young lady has all her belongings on the lawn and it was all junk and in the middle of the lawn was brand new washing machine ???? There was 3 little kids sitting on the steps in rags I said do you have more stuff in the house for sale, Yes she said I have fridge I could not move it on my own,, so we go through the house looking at stuff and I said, why are you selling your new washing machine when you have 3 kids ???? My hubby has left me and the kids and we can't pay the rent or buy food ...we have to leave this house
.
I run into a few of those types of people, But I always remember that woman doing it very hard with 3 little ones

I fear there will be a lot of similar stories in the weeks and months to come. The emergency financial support measures will tide some over in the short term, but my guess is that many small businesses will never open again and the unemployment situation will remain very bad.

The banks said at the outset of this crisis that they will not be refinancing what they call "Zombie" businesses -- those that were already in trouble before the virus.

Over the years I have spoken to quite a few shop keepers and it's clear from those that want to talk about it that the only reason many went into retail was to 'buy a job', as the accountants say, after they lost other jobs in the workforce. Those people were only just making wages on good days. Covering the overheads was a constant worry. They had no buffer at all for bad times.

In Albury, shops have closed down in Rows ..... Empty shops everywhere. I think we are in for a LONG rough trot ! many people Ran a business to Create a job as you say , Due to the lack of opportunities and jobs before this Recession and before Coronavirus.
Imagine being a Restaurant owner !! Gosh, good luck!

One case I was told about was a couple renting a fairly expensive property in Williamstown Vic.
They were both high wage earners and could easily afford it.
One was an airline pilot. The other was a flight attendant.
Both now earning nothing.
How could they have predicted this?

One was an airline pilot.

Story or two in the papers of some pilots taking jobs as shelf stackers at Woolworths.

Yes and that's another problem for people , The cost of living is skyrocketing and the work that is about is low pay,, working in coles won't pay your bills or rent, Often they only get some shifts too.

Yesterday there was a sign in Coles stating a warning to customers that food prices are going up due to people in the those industries of food processing have lost their jobs at a time when there was also panic buying. which has created a shortage of products.
