Yes that's what I heard too. And did you hear the NY Governors rant, saying he'd never close the state borders?
The lunatics are running the asylum!

I think most of the west had no idea what was coming.
But in the US they did not seem to take it seriously at all,Now this maybe because of trump's denial of it In the beginning .
Either way I'm glad I'm not there because their health system is shocking unless your cashed up

Pete

On TV: overloaded hospital in poverty-stricken Queens-NY, where people get poor quality processed foods from corner 'Bodegas', while Hollywood elite shop Organic (Tom Hanks, 60+, shrugs off corona)(Royal Family have their own organic farms, live to be ~100, shrug off corona.)

Based on what is going on here, It does look like closing the borders and nipping off the external source, seems to be showing promise. On that basis I could not believe the lunacy of that Governor.

In the face of NY being a hot bed for the Virus he chooses profit before people & puts his money on the grim reaper. There will be a lot of blood on his hands.

Its been much the same here, poverty wise. if you are rural & of pension age on a Farm you get treated like dirt & are bourgeoisie & expected to live as far below the poverty line as they can get you. Meanwhile the rural infrastructure is falling apart.

In Iran they've taken to drinking 'Metho' (wood-alcohol) as a 'cure' for corona. The thinking goes if it kills bugs as a handwash, it must work internally. Saw people drinking it in Aust in the 1960s, aboriginals in Musgrave Pk West End, as I lived in budget rented rooms there & Sth Bris. (that area was rundown back then, public drinking, metho conveniently sold on Sundays, men walking around with bottle in brown paper bag.)

With regard to food, the food those in forced isolation at hotels in Sydney looks dreadful. One foil pack showing what "lunch" was consisted of boiled rice, peas and a sludge that looked like cat food. Whether it was chook or fish or some other weird concoction was hard to tell. Since this lot are not allowed to get anything delivered themselves, one would think the meals offered would at least look edible.

Metho ! I don't drink it but ,

1 : I wash my hands In it than soap every wash.
2 :: I clean my bank cards with it before and after every outing from the house.
3: I carry a spray bottle in the car and wash my hands with it before and after going into any shop.

4; I spray all my grocery items with it before bringing them into the house.
This was a lesson learnt by iran where the virus can live of plastic and packing for days..
Same applies here ,you don't know how many people have touched you food item on the shelves at Woolies. So what's the point in washing your hands if your putting unclean packages in your fridge and cupboard.

Sounds like airline food. Maybe those suppliers are being used.

Interesting how no Politicians appear to be dying from Covid19.
I'll bet they get the best of care at hospitals.

Some insight.
My wife's friend tested positive for coronavirus.
She lives in the same street as my mother in-law. ,she is 42 years and has a history of pneumonia ,but she has survived coronavirus.
So there is some good news that may give us some insight .
She spent one month in hospital

Pete good points.
Just a squirt of any of the house hold bug cleaners is better than nothing.
Need to watch some plastics, may be affected by some non water base agents.
Hate to dissolve your mastercard!!

Meanwhile,
The Americans have no need to worry according to Trump he will keep the gun shops open as essential services.
America will be open for business in no time...…..not.
That shows you how utterly dumb he is and the gun toting unions.
I guess they think they will shoot the virus?

I just roll my eyes and am glad I don't live in that country!
Now self isolating with Barbara in Toongabbie.
Post, net bank and food delivery will support us.
We are old from WW2 era and know how to live basically with nothing.
Having net access is like a miracle compared to the 1950's!

Note: Must spray the mail!

I can get on with the coin research and stuff.
All keep safe and isolate.

Fred.

Pollies can afford top health cover: This is as always the reality, that the pension is not called a fixed income for no reason.

Fixed means: It is deliberately assessed, deemed and anything else they can think of, to ensure that you are under the poverty line (especially if you retire to the farm you have worked your guts out to have a place to live) and cannot afford anything. Step one in getting rid of you.

Ahhh, deeming accounts - another rort introduced by Paul Keating to fleece those on the smallest form of income - pensioners. The current government should abolish them.

I see there are still people at the shops coughing that still don't have the manners to even make any attempt to cover it.
Some old bag in Coles yesterday pushing a trolley and coughing her ring out , no attempt to cover it in any form at all. She was in her 70s and still has no manners. One lady yelled at her go home .
I just headed away from the whole area. But what a old cow
