Actually I'm very wary of the mower.
When I was at school ,That is to say ,when I turned up at school! There was a boy in the same year as me ,which was year 8 in high school who had fallen under a mower and I believe it was a ride on mower
Anyway it mangled his foot to the degree that his foot pointed backwards and he walked on the ball of his Ankle.
He was not liked at school because he was a very nasty violent type who would bash anybody for no particular reason.
Now I'm a adult and looking back on it , I would guess that personally probably existed due to the accident.

But yeah I'm wary of the mower ! Pete

Back in those days people were called names for being disabled. This might have happened to him and his violence may have been in reply to it. Such events would be all over social media these days but back then when there was no public Internet, it was easier to get away with being a bully.

The closest drama I've had with a mower was when I was mowing the lawn at around the age of 15. The engine threw a conrod and stalled pretty much straight away but the sudden stop caused the plate with the blades on it to fly off the end of the shaft and out the side.

The worst mower accident I've heard of was a chap using a Flymow on a slopping area of grass.
The grass was wet and he slipped backwards and both his feet went under the mower.
He was wearing sandals.
Mangled his toes!

This could have been worse:

Could of been better: The weight of that bit of metal vastly exceeded the capability of the axle & they were luck it did not break sooner. It think this is the same mob who put a canon ball through an occupied house.

I wonder how many people shortened extension leads on those Flymos. Some people used to push them like a standard mower but others used to swing them from side to side like a floor polisher.
