The other day I decided to head off from Albury and hit the tiny towns looking for some more rare vinyl records, it's a fun thing I like to do and it often leads to some other activity.
Well I turn up at this tiny town and I spot a little op type shop so ,I popped in and out the back I found a box of vinyl.
I picked up a dozen or so 60s albums , couple of Beatles and just the comon oldies ,but nothing rare, I then spotted a Vera Lynn Album and I sometimes listen to a bit of 40s stuff so I put that in the pile to buy and head over to give the lady some cash, The lady was English and as I gave her the records she said ,oh Vera ! I use to work for her in England I did her face make ups .
So for the next hour she chattered with me all about her time with Vera Lynn .
Who by the way is still alive and is 102.
What a coincidence to meet her in a tiny town while buying a Vera Lynn record.
So after about a hour chatting she charge 4 bucks for my pile of records and off I went .
Odd coincidence !
Pete
If you have watched old WW2 movies then you know Vera Lynn

Amazing. BTW: Did she say "We'll meet again" ?

Got a 78 with Vera Lynn singing with hundreds of soldiers. If you have ever sung with hundreds of men you will know that it is an unforgettable sound.

The Town is Howlong which is a tiny town and 4 ladies run a community type op shop there.
Characters all of them ! Very warm people.

I was in a small antique shop in Blackwood and picked up a 78rpm of String of Pearls by the Glen Miller Band for a dollar.
It cleaned up pretty well so I put on my Dual 1229 turntable with a cartridge I didn't much care about and listened to the thirties for a few minutes.
Having a working turntable is very useful sometimes.

I know that model Dual.
Nice turntable in teak , sought after model too.
I'm watching the day the earth stood still on my Pye pedigree !
Just the music is sooo dramatic !

I lust after a Pye Pedigree.
I would like to find a suitable resto candidate but people want the earth for them thanks to Ebay.
There was one a while ago, complete with the matching stand with the magazine rack underneath but it was interstate and hideously expensive.
It needs to be reasonably close so I can at least check the CRT condition.
My W101 is still going strong though.
