Cheers and thank you! Yeah, just followed a gut feeling on this one, unfortunately I don't have a sig gen or oscilloscope (although I'm looking out for something affordable) I just replaced caps first, bad resistors next, coils not o/c and gramophone amp working loud and clear, may have been barking up the wrong tree replacing the microphonic 6AU6m, which may have been a symptom of the failed 6AR7, but also may have been damaged as a result of... Only guessing, but with a process of elimination, I eliminated what seemed most likely out of order and Bingo! Yes a happy ending Smile

So your diagnosis was correct and you did everything right. Smile
