Saw this posted on the SWling post

"NEW SHORTWAVE SERVICE:

In May 2017 Radio 4KZ Innisfail in far North Queensland will commence transmission on 5055 kHz between 4pm and about 9am seven days a week.

The station will run 1.5kw into an inverted V antenna and will be a full simulcast of 4KZ, 531kHz

It expected that the service will provide satisfactory coverage to
remote areas of the Cape where there are no AM or FM services available.

Sincerely
Al Kirton
General manager
NQ Radio"

I'm assuming that it's going to be on from 4pm to 9am AEST daily.

It will be interesting to see where these signals will be heard and whether it will be heard overseas.

I emailed them directly finding out a few things about the new service and I'm awaiting for a reply.

I've already preset the freq in my shortwave capable car radio thats installed in my '92 Toyota Camry and my HDSDR program that I use with my SDRplay RSP1.

It will fill the vacuum left by the ABC's departure from the shortwave bands.

A interesting venture and hope all goes well for 4KZ.

Contrary to the "apps and Instagram' mindset of the ABC whose world goes no further than Newtown in Sydney there is a signicant part of the population whom do not have mobile phone or internet service available to them.

Having been in the remote inland on 4WD trips know what is like trying to listen to a fading in and out AM radio station.

Nothing heard so far.

On that band in the evening there's WWVH on 5000, Solomon Is on 5020 and an unknown on 5025. Much later there are stations on 5040, 5050 and 5060. One night I heard a station on 5045.

But as for 4KZ... nothing.
