No, KGH outlasted HGP for many years. They were eventually bought out by Joyce Mayne! What killed Stromberg Carlson was a huge bad debt left to them by HG Palmer. KGH wisely insisted on cash up front for the most part, which is how they survived.

It may be a simple case of reverse engineering. There is not a lot to the amplifiers. You basically have a fairly uncomplicated power supply, a Triode voltage amplifier & a Pentode OP. Most of the valve stuff followed a similar plot. As per the HMV we see one design variant, the Utra Linear & others manufactures took feedback from the secondary of the OP transformer

Thanks for the links. the NLK is the closest with different RC filter cap lineup after the 32μF. Interesting feedback connection however it works and the output is quite linear.
