A lot of houses build on steep blocks had them. The occupiers of such houses are very lucky. The 'granny flats' are a perfect place to display radios and also have a bit set aside with a workbench for mending the chassis, providing that rising damp isn't an issue.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

Yes basements aren't common in Australia.

Those people that have them are very lucky

As you say a great storage place for TV's & Radios as long as dampness isn't an issue.

A lot of our American friends have basements

Yes, the house is built of bricks high off the ground so I have a huge walk in area under the house where I can stand up under there..
But I won't lie ,it's full of stuff! TVs , Radiograms, boxes ,furniture , large drill press and tools .... No room left to even hide a body !

I would never go back to living in Sydney or Melbourne, Happy to live here and just visit those places from time to time.....
It's not set up yet thoug.,Most of my stuff is in storage until I can finish the house off a bit more . Wainting on my lounge parts coming from the UK too
Have you got room to build or put a shed up in your yard steve ? You have that good Garage though! whats the rough cost of a container in Town ?

Yes I have rare lounge from 1960 and It needed Re springing ,Which Ive done but I needed some very Rare clips which I finally tracked down in London so I have bought those and they're on the way , Its 1960 Contemporary 3 Piece lounge, Fabric is still all original. Actually my wife found the clips . I had all but given up and thought, Hell here's another thing I have to make !,, But then Venie found them in London

Put up a Shed steve ,,But not a Tin Garden shed as they get moisture in them and not so good for storing.
