I have this memory of reading a factory leaflet where they discussed the up coming Australian development of the X61M and other valves as the new high gain series of product for radios.
I can almost "see" the front cover with a X61M on an angle like next years rocket ship..
Thats from memory and memory is not very good nowadays!
Wish I had not sold all the manuals and factory updates etc back in the 90's!!

I’m pretty sure the X61M was a Radiotron branded UK sourced M/OV (Marconi/Osram Valve). I’m not sure if they were locally produced by AWV. AWA used them extensively in late 40’s & early 50’s Radiola models.

They are mentioned in the AWV Radiotronics publications. I’ll have a bit of a search later.

I shall take it out and take more photos. I have to clean the chassis anyway.

Some were putting 6V6 in T9 envelopes as early as1941 & 8B-1 & others were used by Brimar & Sylvania Radiotron's were generally RCA which in turn was Westinghouse / GE consortium.

Note that in an ST-12 the diode plates are below the triode, these are above the triode.
