I work at a hospital. The dot colour changes daily. I'm not keen on masks either though it is a condition of employment that they be worn at the moment. I am able to take it off when I am in my office so I spend as much time as possible down there.

Today, at around 10:30, there was a brownout and power surge on the lower North Shore and I had to spend a few hours replacing blown power supplies and a television, which all took the hit on behalf of the thousands of other electrical bits and pieces around the place. The mask had to be on for all that.

Hydros has a number of uses, but in another life I was a textile dyer, that stuff, when we had a textile industry was used in dyeing & from memory I think it was used on wool, as a bleach.

I noted as I was investigating the Bunnings $3 Face Shield they suddenly vanished? Investigations put very politely to the locals revealed that they ran out of supply, much as I thought. However, politeness paid off, as they have some for their own use (very wise) and I scored one of them.

This in fact was a wonderful gesture. This is customer service at its best.

Surges: As I have written many times, very common here & a dodgy Solar Inverter was involved in one lot, lightning the other. This is why I got rather P'd off with the situation and took affirmative action. As noted the current version of the answer is two MOV's of the heftier variety. One broadside N to A and one A to E and that's been copied commercially.

Modus operandi is: One to sink the pulse (voltage spike), the other to do that, as well as trip out the RCD. It works in practice as well as theory. Additional are a 0.1mfd line cap N to A & not more than 0.01mfd line caps N to E and A to E. these are to get rid of RF riding on the lines.

I have actually put an MOV across the primary of a set, in a bad area. There is a guy here that I have had a bit to do with that worked in the field for a supply company and one point ECV / SEC and he described AC as "weird shit", for some of the things it did.

Well I don't understand people at all and Woolies and Coles should practice what they preach.
They said that they wanted all customers to wear a face mask in NSW And ACT starting this week! Well ,It's Tuesday and I went to Woolies wearing my mask to do the shopping with my daughter and I only saw 2 or 3 people wearing mask even though the shop was packed with customers. Many panic buying again.
But more of a shock to me was the fact that Woolies staff were not wearing masks?
They were packing shelves and serving people with no mask on? So what's the point of asking the customers to wear one.
The shop was absolutely packed with people and social distancing must be a word these shoppers have never heard of before.
Either they are ignorant or perhaps they believe it's safe in Oz? Or perhaps ill read?
I don't know. ! ....but if people don't pull their finger out ,we will never over this virus issue and get back to living again . Sometimes we are our Own worst enemies.

On Ch 7 News tonight it was said that two supermarkets in Sydney's north have had their shelves stripped bare of dunny rolls. The insanity continues. Re-opening the Gladesville, Rozelle and Rydalmere lunatic asylums would not provide enough bed spaces for the idiots out there amongst us and we are talking about hospitals that had more than 2,000 beds each in their heydays.

We could always put them in an immigration centre. I see one idiot with outstanding warrants & other C-19 offences, has been quarantined well before his next court appearance: Bail refused.

Evidently, it's been discovered by some that wrapping yourself in toilet paper protects you from covid. I guess there's been a run on tin foil, too.

The tin foil would be for hats to protect them from 5G virus.

Here in Bathurst quite a few people are wearing masks, quite a few not wearing masks which is disappointing. The only mask I have are those paper dust masks which will do for the moment.

Make a point of trying to avoid crowded areas. Luckily do not have to use public transport and mostly ride a bicycle about as much as possible.

One of the advantages of living in a country town.

Yep, have been spending some quality time in Hospital the last week doing cancer tests, like scans and stuff.
Have a nice string of different coloured dots now to decorate the front of my working Bass Amp "Temp check done- its OK." !!!

Anybody that has any problems with wearing a mask?
Listen to Father Freds advice.............

JUST PUT THE F!.#$%^^&G THING ON SUNSHINE!

I know most of them are not 95 to AS..123456 whatever but the point is to stop people SPITTING volumes of droplets let alone snot on other people.
Thats all.
In my family three of us are immuno suppressed and/or with serious stage heart and respiratory disease.
We do not even want to get a sniffle, let alone a virus.

Funny thing about that point, for the last two years we have a regime of handwash, avoid lifts and crowded places, masks and gloves and guess what, NO SNIFFLES. The one good thing about the covoid virus is we do not look like pratts or tradies any more if we mask up.

Fred.

I wear a mask at work - compulsory, though it's not possible to avoid lifts as my building is a high rise. That said, if people just put on a display of good manners every now and then, the virus would be a bit more difficult to transmit. I was in town on Wednesday and there are still people sneezing and coughing into the air. If one has a cold, they should take one for the team and either mask up or stay at home. I did when I had a cold. Two days off work, snuggled up in bed watching telly and commenting here - it was great.

Thanks Jimb, results all good, just reviewing now.
No detectable C cells for both of us.

Thyroid for Barbara OK, tick!
Kidney/bladder for Fred OK, tick!

Not going to die yet, whoohoo!

Fred.
