I usually use Firefox; after this mornings problem tried Chrome but no good there either.

I think with the information in the most recent posts that the connection losses to the server have been successfully fixed by TPG and I will let them know of this tonight.

The "spinning wheels" in browsers are a lead-up to a 500 error and I experience the same thing at times even though my computer is on the same LAN as the web server, so this confirms that.

At least now I can get back to sorting out the one remaining issue, the 500 error. With this, I will be doing some more work to try and fix this on Sunday morning. There may be some site unavailability on Sunday between 07:00 and 12:00, NSW time. Work will involve database management and some page recoding tasks.

I should also mention that trying other browsers than the one you normally use won't bypass a 500 error. Some browsers handle this particular error differently to others but that is pretty much the only difference.

I had quite few 500 type errors last night and earlier today. I didn't bother to record the times, though.

Im not sure if we are still leaving notes here to help find the problems or not and I'm a bit reluctant to mention it as I know Brad has worked hard on this site and I dont want people to think I'm kicking tyres,
But if we are still leaving notes here to help find the problems.
My note would be, the site is not loading for me .
If I click on a page or a forum it just does nothing.
So even though the home page lets me on the site ,the pages just dont open and then the site freezes .

Well , all the best Pete

It is okay to leave times and dates if you wish but at the same time it is not compulsory.

I will be working on the site again this Sunday and will be completely rewriting the main default page, which is the file on the server that supports all other files the site uses. It will take a few hours to complete as there is a lot of code to sort through and I will be removing any lines of code that the site no longer needs.

Will this cause a disruption to the site? Most likely, though it should only do so whilst I am testing the new default file for correct operation. I think ten minutes at maximum.

The reason I am leaving this work for Sunday mornings is because it is a traditionally quiet time here and it gives me time to test things without causing too much inconvenience. It is also pretty much the only time I can allocate to being on a computer for a long time.

I'd love to be able to promise that I'm on the verge of finding the bug but I can't honestly do that. Whilst it has caused a lot of frustration, all I can do is say that it'll eventually get found. The sooner the better, I agree.

Its the same with any projects Brad, sometimes you just get one that has an issue and just cant find it !
Ive had it happen with TVs , cars ,motorbikes , timber finishes and even wives! But eventually you find the problem.

One thing I notice sometimes, is that the page appears to load fine, whether it is immediate or after a long pause, but the browser still has the little circle turning, as if the page isn't quite finished loading. I can click on something and proceed, but maybe there's an image that isn't always available and has to wait to time out? I didn't notice anything missing, but there must be.
