We had some firewall issues last night. I think I have fixed things up. This prevented me correctly uploading Labrat's emblem photo, which has just now been completed.

Add to me being ill and off work today and Remote Desktop Console also not working, due to the firewall issue and things have been a bit of a hurdle to put right.

This doesn't cure the 500s though, which will go when the forums are finally replaced. Work continues on this 'little' project on Sunday, 11th March.

Have had numerous 500 errors most of today. Worst ever for me, I'd say.

Okay, some good news on this front. Yes, the site has been a right bitch for the last two days and last night when returning from a brief holiday I had to reboot the server every 20 minutes or so on about five occasions because I simply couldn't get in.

The installation of the new forums is going to plan (a new plan - more on that at a later stage) and I am hoping to have them live in six to seven weeks.

More will be said on this as time goes on though at this early stage things are looking very promising, with no apparent glitches.

The very good news (and I am hoping that those who have been asking for it for aeons don't hit their heads on the ceiling when jumping for joy) the new forums will feature image and document uploads, supporting JPG and PDF file types.

The bulk of the time left to launch will be spent on the transfer of all memberships to the new software, which will take a very long time as it all has to be done manually, followed by some final testing before we go through a transition phase.

The existing forums' content is not being transferred at this stage, due to the amount of time it would take to undertake the transfer of all data and attached images and documents. I am yet to decide how to manage the future access to this content as I do not want it to become unavailable.

It went down again as soon as I made the previous post.

Maybe I can do it again!

Does anyone remember the Windows NT "ping of death"?

You could take down a Windows server any time you liked.

That could also happen on Windows 95A but via a slightly different method. We used to inflict that on IRC users in the earlier days of the Internet.

The good news is that the new forums aren't too far away. No plans of an exact date yet but I am thinking around the four week mark or thereabouts.

When I click on this link

https://vintage-radio.com.au/default.asp?f=3&th=1117

an instant error 500 occurs.

Also, the link is not highlighted even though I've never read it.

In Wanted and For Sale forum.

Something corrupted the database for that thread. It's been fixed now.

This thread shows with no title and so cannot be clicked on.

https://vintage-radio.com.au/default.asp?f=1&th=1326

How is it possible to not have a title?

All fixed, for now. When the new forums are live, all any duplicate threads will not be transferred to the new system in the clean up that takes place.
